Simple ways to Balance your Body and Mind
Continuing from the last post on leading an active lifestyle, this post is all about How to balance your mind and body to attain that Mental Peace. I remember the Instagram challenge 10 years then and now, and all I could figure out was the peace of mind I had then and a complete loss of it now.
“Health is not merely the absence of disease, It is the balance of Mind, Body and Soul”
What has really changed? Then I was at the start of my career and ambitious for my work too. But the morning and evenings were a lot calm, I had time to listen to what my body and mind used to say. I didn’t see myself grappling with everything. Overall, life was very simple.
I started Blogging a year back in Delhi, after I quit my corporate job, to hold and nurture the tiny hands. With new set goals, as a mommy, as a blogger and as a wife, my mind has been constantly convincing “myself with the goals”. Though these goals keep me inspired, but in an effort to meet 360-degree expectations, I’ve experienced an overwhelming mind. Honestly, there is not even a single minute, when I’m actually “not reasoning” and just connecting to my soul. An overwhelmed mind leads to an imbalance of the body-mind and soul and it actually compromises with your real strength.
- Are you free of anxiety amid pains?
- Do you always feel crowded?
- Do you feel fit in your mind?
Question yourself, as it is important to restore that balance of mind, the earlier, the merrier! Remember, Mind and body works in sync and not in isolation.
Here are some tips, I’m using myself to attain that balance of mind and body :
1. Practise Pranayama and Meditation :
Controlled breathing is imperative for a controlled mind. I used to practice breathing exercise before Motherhood and 2019 is the year when I’ve resorted back to deep breathing. I’m on Practising “Inhalation, Retention, Exhalation”, twice a day, once early morning [before sunrise] and once in the evening. It checks on the excessive momentum of my mind and reduces the quantum of thoughts and quantity of thinking. Practicing Pranayam [Deep Breathing exercise] is a must for a balanced mind. Not aware of how to do Pranayama or Deep Breathing? Then check on wiki how here.
2. Do only till your capacity :
Yes, we all moms have that superpower within us, but don’t let that power drain completely. Draft your daily routine, with “few items” and not with a cluster of 100’s of things. With few items on the plate, ensure that they are executed 100% without any failure. Sideline the extra’s for the day, rather don’t pay any heed to them. Don’t scatter up your energy in trying to do “anything and everything”.
I’m working on this from past one month and believe me, Carrying out only a few tasks, have actually helped me retain my efficiency.
3. Limit yourself to Social Media :
With the rise of various Online mediums, our thoughts are “Influenced” to the core. Think, if it was the case 10 years back?
Remember, Our thoughts are either power gainers or drainers. The mixed feelings that arise lead to lots of “untreated raw emotions”, which entangles your mindset into a chaotic intricate net. ~Jhilmil
Limit your time for Social Media during the day and move out, practice your passion. Be it playing sports, or carving a painting or singing to your heart, reserve that time for something that makes your mind “happy” and not cluttered. Unfriend toxic people or those who negatively influence your mind. Being an Influencer and Blogger, I was getting glued to social media and sooner I realized the need to keep my mind clutter free.
4. Shun that mad competition out of your life :
Do you have the real long term goal of your life? Are you aware why are you on this earth? Though these may sound too whacky to a few, it is really important to know the real goal of your life. It’s not just following the mad race, nor it is just about “money”. Remind “self”, the ultimate goal of your life from time to time. This reminder will help you with the right frame of mind, virtuous thoughts and honorable choices.
Believe me, I’m already in this phase, and it’s working wonders in keeping me stress-free. Next time you step in for anything, ensure that you have your balanced mind with you. It will fuel you your body and soul with the right equilibrium, you would have been longing for!
This is what I learned, from my Life in a Metro, from my experiences as a Mom, as a working woman, and as a wife! This is my second post for #BlogchatterA2Z challenge.
Much Love,
Jhilmil
From many days I’m thinking to start Yoga in the early morning but it is not happening. Your post is boosting me up!
That’s good to know, practise and you’ll be addicted to it!
Another beautiful post. Yes a healthy body and a healthy mind are essential for a healthy living. A healthy mind lives in a healthy body. Regular exercise and ability to control an overactive mind can be beneficial.
Thanks Abhijit Ji!
I agree with the pointers and I do follow most of them. Yes! Only a healthy body carries a healthy mind.
Loved reading this post, Jhilmil. Our mind, body, and soul need to be in harmony and for that, it’s ok to take a break or disconnect from the chaotic world outside.
Balance is truly the key . Yoga really helps. Helpful post, Jhilmil.
I so much wanted to start with the yoga sessions, even my doctor has recommended for hypertension. Will make a mental note of starting it soon.
Yoga really helps and also meditation. I agree with all the points you mentioned.
These are some good points, Jhilmil. Breathing and meditation help in letting calm settle in our body. I also like to go for long walks to clear my mind.
Jhilmil, you’ve really echoed my thoughts in this post. Ostensibly we’ve quit high-powered and stressful jobs to pursue our passions and take care of out little ones simultaneously; but blogging sometimes feels more stressful than anything else!
It’s so important to maintain that mental equilibrium or balance. Great post!
I am glad you said it dear, these are really valid points. Balance is the key, I too practice pranayama buddy.
I think this post was completely meant for me. Now I need to implement it ?
Limiting use of electronic devices and social media is must to keep our mind sane. The hours kids spend on screen is even more terrifying. Great blog.
Just love this article. Though I can’t do meditation, no matter how hard I try but I follow the rest three points.
Nicely written with some amazing tips here
Balance is very important. I also believe that social media is affecting our balance badly. Although I m not too addicted to it still it affects. Need to work on it.
Loved all your tips and liked the pointer, that one should do things till a capacity.
Cheers

I feel the current concern with all of us is to limit our social media exposure time. You have made some pertinent points through this post.
