“Positive Parenting” as was in My Life!
“When you are happy and you know it “Clap your hands;
When you are happy & you know it, say Hurrah”
That’s how my Childhood aka “Bachpan” was built around clapping & enjoying parenting by Mom & Dad!
Where pampering was high, and tantrums were numerous :
Study Time..Nah..It’s a Play Time;
Play of 15 minutes & I’m fresh to study!
Wake Up time..Nah I’m Sleepy;
Jokes & stand up comedy by papa & I’m up to get Ready!
Lunch Time..Boring Veggies…Nah I’m off to sleep;
Desserts and Cakes by Mum & I’m onto grab the veggies ?!
Water park..Risky Rides …Nah Nah Nah by MUM
Hand in hand..Dad & Me…On the ride..Yes yes yes!
Getting Bored, None around;
Here comes Dad to play hide & Seek to see a Happy Me!
Welcoming Charming Adolescence :
Learnt pillion, here I go wandering;
Bouquet of Friends, let me party;
Hang out and Shop, “best words”
Study and Sincerity, “hated them”
Cakes and Pastries, “Fond off”
Fashion and trend, “Enjoyed for”
Impish but yet trustworthy;
Ran from studies, but yet excelled;
Could be Wicked, but yet morale;
And that’s how my “Teen” Sparkled!
Clinching Radiant Career & Life :
Road to future…Our dream to see you Doctor /Engineer;
Nah…My dream to be a scientist…Thumbs up Dad!
Trail to College..We wish you to be close to us;
Nah…My Dream college in Delhi..Move ahead my Child!
Time for Campus Placements..Now let’s be at one place;
Nah…A critical phase, I yearn for Corporate Life…Grow Ahead baby!
Met Sweetheart…We have an intellectual prospect for you;
Nah…Introducing you to my Love….Opened the Corridor for Marriage!
As my crisp poem goes, I’v been an apple of eye for my family ,having spent most of my years in a joint family. Learning & playing with Dada Dadi ,Chacha Chachi, but amongst all this, I had most wonderful memories with my dad. A nostalgic feeling sets in even today when I recall those days, when I had him on my side as my “Play , Study or even Cartoon buddy”.
Papa,
We’ve spent winters making little braids out of your hair & laughing & dancing all around on the terrace;
We’ve enjoyed rains, splashing water & swaying our little paper boats with you by our side;
We’ve spent every evening making & flying our Rockets;
We’ve spent months enjoying the plight of neighbour’s to see their kites blown off by you?!
You were a saviour when I ran away from those boring studies ?;
You sat with me to watch my favourite Cartoon characters, leaving aside your matches;
I remember dance with you on the Prabhudeva’s – Muqabala & making us chuckle;
I miss the days when we used to play cricket in “house lobby” with mom shouting behind the scenes;
I miss those days of having Gulab Jamun eating competition ?;
I miss sleeping on terrace in the nights & counting on stars!
I really miss those “fabulous days”; To confess – I understood them when I grew up!
So why not, let me take a chance to thank your “Parenting technique”. Never authoritative, but cooperative. Never restrictive but Interactive. You always made us feel that “Our suggestions and decisions mattered”. You made us feel mature enough to walk on the path of Life, with your support at the back.
It’s today, after being a parent, that I realize the power of “Buddy Parenting” and “Positive Parenting”by you. Whatever the theories have to say, it matters tons on the quantum of openness you bring into your family. Controlled buddy parent is the best to have(as I had). That’s when the child enjoy the most beautiful relationship along with the knowledge of where to draw the boundaries.
Moms and dads, lets imbibe “Positiveness” while raising our kids.
Thanking GOD for the best gift of life in the form of “Parents” cum “Buddies” come “Besties”!
Happy Parenting!
Missing that family time, get some tips to re-energize & get it .

This is great! Positivity is so important when raising children, because they really absorb whatever’s around them including attitudes and outlooks!
You brought back some of my childhood days in this post. Loved reading it ?
I try to stay positive but when the kids don’t listen I yell, I admit that. If they’d listen the first five times, then I wouldn’t have to raise my voice and turn into a crazy lady.
Positive parenting is so important! Its incredible how kids absorb everything you say and do so making an effort towards positive parenting is so great
I guess no matter how difficult is parenting, still it is the world. They can raise future billionnaires, presidents, and amazing people that could make difference to the world.
These are some great positive messages. Thank you for sharing them.
This is a great post, being positive can be hard sometime as a parent.When you are tired and work all the time, thanks for sharing.
It actually can, but we need to try & be positive. They are looking & learning rom us!
Being positive when your child is having a tantrum is not the easiest task. However, being positive during the situation makes it a lot easier.
That’s so true, with every tantrum we cannot be positive. But we need to handle situation positively!
This is so great! Being positive in every aspect of life is so important! Especially to kids 🙂
It is a beautiful poem and you have covered so many great aspects of parenting. My mom followed buddy parenting and I plan to follow her footsteps when the time comes 🙂
Great to know that!!
I believe in always trying to stay positive and now with a toddler at home much more so.
Really great!
